The Eduardo León Jimenes Foundation, Centro León and Grupo Puntacana invite you to the exhibition “Ser Oscar de la Renta”, in homage to the admired Dominican designer. A multisensory journey through his 60 years in the fashion industry, different facets in artistic creation and generous humanitarian work. Life and work of a universal Dominican. The exhibition will be open to the public until April 2020 and is part of the Great Masters program of the León Center. Fifty original dresses designed by him, documents, videos, photographs, book and magazine covers, accessories, works of art and an essences laboratory with similar aromas in the production of his perfumes will be exhibited. It has the collaboration of The MET, KSUM, George W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum, Fashion Institute of Technology, Young Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco, The Estate of Antonio Lopez and Juan Ramos, Bellapart Museum, Fernando Peña Defilló Museum and Archive General of the Nation

BAZZAR is the 43rd original Cirque du Soleil production since 1984. The show has toured in India, Oman, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Lebanon, Turkey and Egypt. Now Punta Cana will be its first site in the Americas.

On February 2, 9, 23 and 27 and March 1, La Vega becomes a carnival for more than a million visitors, under the slogan “Tradition that does not stop.” On February 16, there will be no activity due to municipal elections throughout the country. Its 2,000 Diablos Cojuelos (Limping Devils), troupes, floats and the most prominent artists will complement the cultural offer. Bachata will be honored every Saturday of the event with its best performers, after being declared Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by Unesco. On Sundays, there will be urban music concerts. You can enjoy the outstanding characters Los Africanos, Los Indios, Roba la Gallina, Se Me Muere Rebeca, Diablos Cojuelos, Califé y La Muerte en Jeep, among others.

On February 2, 9 and 23 Puerto Plata is full of carnival. On February 16, there will be no activity due to municipal elections throughout the country. The final parade will be held on March 7 at the Malecón and in the city streets. The spectators will enjoy the parade of the colorful floats and troupes with costumes, music, popular dances, different manifestations of art and culture, which reflect our cultural identity. Each year the carnival organizers choose King Momo, who represents the person in the city who has fought to maintain their traditions the most and concerts take place. You can enjoy Los Taimáscaros, characters from the Carnival of Puerto Plata, whose name is the union of the words Taíno and Mask. Their costumes combine maritime, Afro-American, European and Taíno elements.

The carnival parade along Las Carreras Avenue towards the Monument, will be held on February 2, 9, 23 and 27 and the 1st. March with showy floats and troupes to the rhythm of merengue. On February 16, there will be no activity due to municipal elections throughout the country. To parade, the locals wear diablos cojuelos masks and costumes with mirrors, bells and balloons to make way through the crowds. Local artisans conduct a mask contest that becomes a healthy but fierce competition that ends with the creation of a masterpiece. You can enjoy the characters Los Lechones, Karamanche and Nicolás Den Den, among others. Dedicated to the artist Maridalia Hernández. King Lechón will be the folklorist and cultural manager Rafael Almánzar.
